Bayern Munich strengthened their UEFA Champions League campaign with an impressive 2-0 away victory over Atletico Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Tuesday night, November 3.
The German champions controlled much of the contest but had to wait until the second half to break down Atletico’s defence. Both sides went into the break without scoring after a closely contested opening period.
Bayern eventually took the lead in the 54th minute through teenager Lennart Karl, who capitalised on a defensive mistake by Robin Le Normand before lifting the ball beyond goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Atletico attempted to respond, but Bayern remained organised and continued to threaten on the counterattack.
Their second goal arrived in the 74th minute when Harry Kane set up Konrad Laimer, who finished powerfully past Oblak.
The victory was particularly important for Bayern, who were playing without several attacking options and head coach Vincent Kompany.
Assistant coach Aaron Danks oversaw the team as they secured all three points in Madrid.
The result takes Bayern to eight points in the Champions League league phase and keeps them firmly in contention for a top-eight finish.
Atletico, who had been unbeaten in nine matches before the encounter, were handed a significant setback on home soil.
