Babu Owino Criticises Sakaja For Asking President Ruto For Chapati-Making Machine

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has slammed Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja after he asked President William Ruto to purchase a chapati-making machine to support the Dishi na County school feeding program.

Taking to his socials, Babu wondered why Sakaja was asking President Ruto to procure the machine over other things affecting Nairobi residents.

According to the MP, Governor Sakaja should have prioritized drainage, health, roads, water, and employment over the chapati-making machine.

“Of all the issues affecting the people of Nairobi, Sakaja asked the President for a chapati-making machine to produce one million chapatis a day. He failed to see that the city lacks proper drainage, the roads are in poor condition, and the health sector is struggling. He didn’t acknowledge the high unemployment among Nairobi’s youth. How will Mama Chapati survive if her job is taken over by a machine?” Babu posed.

His remarks came a few hours after Governor Sakaja requested President Ruto for the chapati-making machine.

According to Sakaja, the Dishi na County program feeds 300,000 students in Nairobi and he would have to make one million chapatis for them thus the machine would help a lot.

President Ruto promised to purchase the machine and directed Sakaja to start exploring where it could be bought.

“The governor has asked me that in order to add chapati to Nairobi’s dish, I should buy a chapati-making machine. I have agreed to buy the machine for him. Now, Governor, find a place to buy a chapati-making machine that makes one million chapatis,” President Ruto.
