Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has said he is recovering well after undergoing a medical procedure following a recent illness.
In a statement issued on Sunday, December 28, the lawmaker did not disclose details about the procedure or the nature of his illness but expressed gratitude for the support and concern shown by Kenyans, which he said has helped him and his family through a challenging period.
Owino added that he considered it important to update the public on his health and indicated that he expects to resume his parliamentary duties in the new year.

“In the spirit of openness and honesty that should guide all who serve the public, I wish to share that I recently underwent a medical procedure following an illness,” Owino said.
Owino moreover noted that he considered it necessary to update the public on his health status and expressed optimism about returning to his legislative duties in the new year.
The lawmaker also expressed solidarity with Kenyans who were unable to spend the festive season with their families because they were hospitalized due to illness.
He underscored the need for national unity rooted in faith, compassion, and shared humanity, particularly at a time when some citizens are enduring illness and economic hardship during the holiday period.
His statement comes amid widespread rumours suggesting he had been admitted to a Nairobi hospital under unclear circumstances, which had sparked concern among members of the public.
In a brief update shared two weeks ago, the MP thanked Kenyans for their concern and confirmed that he had been ill but was recovering.
In recent months, he has drawn national attention following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, with some Kenyans and opinion polls tipping him as a potential successor to the ODM party leadership.
