Atletico Madrid Beat Getafe 5-0 to Advance to Copa Del Ray Semifinals

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone’s son, Giuliano, scored two early goals as the team crossed into the Copa del Rey semifinals with a 5-0 home victory over Getafe on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Simeone netted twice in the first 17 minutes, and Atletico reached the last four of the Copa for the second straight season.

In just 16 minutes, Atlético had already taken a 2-0 lead, thanks to Giuliano Simeone, who capitalized on a Getafe defensive error to open the scoring in the 8th minute. Samuel Lino, who also shined with his performance, extended the lead with a stunning goal just before half time making it 3-0 at break.

Diego Simeone’s team gave their opponent no chance and clarified that they were aiming for nothing less than the title.

The second half maintained the same intensity. Ángel Correa scored the 4-0 with a powerful shot from outside the box, while Alexander Sorloth sealed the victory with the 5-0 after a great combination with Correa.

Getafe was completely overwhelmed and had no way to stop the Rojiblanco storm, falling to the energy and precision of the home team.

The Copa del Rey remains a clear objective for Atlético. This victory puts them in a privileged position, just three games away from a title they haven’t won since 2013. With a squad full of quality and a highly motivated coach, the team is determined to fight for more.

The win also comes at a crucial moment, as Atlético prepares for the derby against Real Madrid this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu, where LaLiga’s top spot will also be at stake.

With this dominant victory, Atlético de Madrid not only advances to the Copa del Rey semifinals but also sends a strong message to its rivals: they are ready to fight for titles. Simeone’s team remains as intense and ambitious as ever, and now, with the Copa within reach, they are set to face new challenges with their sights firmly set on the next goal.

In the other quarterfinals, Real Madrid visits Leganes on Wednesday, while on Thursday it will be Real Sociedad welcoming Osasuna and Barcelona playing at Valencia.
