Allan Ademba Defends ‘Niko Kadi’ Drive, Urges Politicians to Keep Distance

Allans Ademba, the youth leader behind the ‘Niko Kadi’ movement, has cautioned political leaders against politicising ‘Niko Kadi’.

Speaking during an interview, Ademba urged politicians to keep of the voter registration campaign and maintained that the initiative is strictly citizen-driven and not open to political interference.

According to the youth leader, politicians had previously failed to engage young voters effectively and should not attempt to capitalise on the current momentum for personal gain.

“To any politician out there claiming or wanting to work with us, we have to say this. You had the longest time to mobilise Kenyans to register as voters, and you failed to do that. So what we are doing is we are mobilising Kenyans to register for voting, we don’t want you anywhere in the picture,” he said.

“When the time for elections comes, they are going to choose if they are going to vote you in or out. So for now, don’t ruin this. At least give us the merit of us just registering to vote. Please don’t interrupt our process. This is not a politician-led mass voter registration but a citizen-led voter registration. We dont want your money,” he added.

The youth leader started the movement in mid-March to sensitise young people on social media to come out and register as voters.

According to reports, this was after it was revealed that young people were reluctant to do so.
