All alcohol importers in Kenya will now be required to use the National Electronic Single Window System (NESWS) for import and export permits starting October 1, NACADA has announced.
NACADA CEO Anthony Omerikwa noted that the system, managed by KenTrade, will make licensing more efficient, transparent, and less prone to corruption.
Importers and exporters must log into the platform, apply for licenses, pay applicable fees, and submit them for approval.

Upon arrival of goods, importers, exporters, or their customs agents will also be required to apply for consignment documents through the same system.
The move is part of efforts to streamline alcohol trade regulation and improve oversight.
Stakeholders have been encouraged to visit the NACADA website to acquire a step-by-step guide for the new licensing process.
The authority clarified that all charges related to NACADA’s import and export licensing will continue to be guided by the existing legal framework.
It further noted that under the new system, all license payments will be made solely through the eCitizen platform, which will be integrated with the National Electronic Single Window System (NESWS).
NACADA also assured importers and exporters that licenses issued before October 1, 2025, will remain valid until their expiry date, with the details uploaded onto the online system for reference.
