Lawyers File Petition to Remove Ahmednasir From Senior Counsel

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi is on the spot after two lawyers filed a petition seeking to remove him from the Roll of Senior Counsel over alleged professional misconduct.

In the petition, lawyers Paul Kiragu Wathuta and John Murimi Njomo argue that Ahmednasir has consistently engaged in actions that are highly discrediting for a person of his legal stature.

The petition particularly takes aim at Ahmednasir’s consistent tirades on social media, especially on X which they argue are meant to malign and discredit the judiciary.

Instances were referenced in the petition where Ahmednasir allegedly made ‘unsubstantiated’ allegations against judges.

The lawyers claim that warnings have been issued to the senior counsel, but he has failed to heed them.

The two lawyers want the lawyer’s title stripped, arguing that such a title should be reserved for legal minds who exhibit professionalism.

The petition comes days after Ahmednasir and a fleet of other lawyers working under his firm filed a separate petition seeking the removal of seven Supreme Court judges from office.

The Lawyer was conferred the title of Senior Counsel in December 2012 and has since represented some big names in Kenya.
