US AI Giant Open AI Accuses DeepSeek of Tech Imitation

About DeepSeek

Chat GPT creator OpenAI has alleged that Chinese companies are actively attempting to copy its advanced AI models.

The Open AI’s statement came after Chinese Startup DeepSeek was the most downloaded app over the weekend and stock rose which sparked panic among its AI competitors.

Open AI claimed that their rivals were using a process known as distillation in which the creators created smaller models learnt from larger ones by the copying their behavior and decision-making patterns, similar from a small baby learning from his or her parents.

We know (China) based companies and others are constantly trying to distill the models of leading US AI companies.

Open AI spokesperson told AFP.
