Ferencvaros Shock AC Milan at San Siro as Italian Giants Suffer Third European Defeat

AC Milan suffered a damaging 2-0 home defeat to Hungarian side Ferencváros in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, November 5, leaving their European campaign in serious trouble after recording their third defeat in four matches.

Ferencvaros took the lead in the 52nd minute when Lenny Joseph capitalised on a misplaced pass from Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net.

Joseph struck again in the 66th minute, completing his brace after breaking through Milan’s defence to double the visitors’ advantage and silence the home supporters at San Siro.

The Hungarian side were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute after substitute Bamidele Yusuf received a red card.

Milan attempted to take advantage of the numerical superiority but failed to find a breakthrough.

The defeat leaves Milan 28th in the Europa League standings with only three points after four matches, putting their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages under considerable pressure.

Ferencvaros, meanwhile, moved to 12 points and maintained their impressive record in the competition.

Milan manager Ruben Amorim insisted his side would continue fighting, despite the disappointing result.
