LSK Demands Accountability Over Abduction of Lawyer Abshir Abdi

Lawyers reportedly staged a protest following the disappearance of city lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi on Friday morning, November 6, 2026.

The demonstration, organised by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), began at Milimani Law Courts and was expected to proceed along Kenyatta Avenue to end at Vigilance House.

LSK President Charles Kanjama led the call for advocates, human rights defenders and members of the public to join the march, demanding answers from security agencies and the lawyer’s safe return.

During the protests, Kanjama faulted authorities for failing to account for Abdi’s whereabouts, saying that instead of providing answers, they had made allegations against the missing advocate.

“We are here today to express our rage and anger, as well as our commitment and determination to leave no stone unturned and continue engaging until our colleague is safely back with us and the culture of abductions comes to an end,” he stated.

According to reports, Abdi was reportedly abducted along Muchai Drive in Nairobi in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, with CCTV footage later showing armed men pursuing and forcibly bundling him into a vehicle.

His disappearance prompted the LSK to join habeas corpus proceedings at the High Court, seeking to compel the state to account for his whereabouts
