The United States (US) government has deported former NFL linebacker Daniel Ogama Adongo back to Kenya.
In a statement issued on Saturday, July 25, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Adongo was deported after accumulating a criminal record in the US.
According to the department, the 37-year-old had been arrested multiple times on charges including criminal mischief involving property damage, felony intimidation, battery and disorderly conduct.

DHS said Adongo’s criminal history led to his removal from the country as part of its immigration enforcement efforts.
Adongo, a former rugby player, transitioned to American football and joined the Indianapolis Colts as a linebacker in July 2013.
He played five NFL games, mainly on special teams, before his professional football career came to an end in 2015 after Indianapolis police responded to reports of an alleged domestic violence incident involving Adongo and a woman he was living with.
The deportation comes months after DHS published a list of immigrants marked for deportation.
The list, released in December 2025, included more than 100,000 people, among them 15 Kenyans arrested in various states across the US.
According to DHS, immigration officers are carrying out the administration’s directive to prioritize the deportation of immigrants classified as the highest-risk offenders as part of a broader mass deportation campaign.
Alfred Obiero was among the Kenyans on the list after being convicted of assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and domestic violence.
Bethuel Gathu was also listed after being convicted of robbery. He was arrested in Chowchilla, California.
Daniel Kathii was included after being convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested in Conroe, Texas.
Moses Okoth was also named by DHS after being convicted of aggravated assault involving a weapon. He was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee.
