Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was forced to calm an eager crowd in Bungoma County after supporters repeatedly demanded to hear from Embakasi East MP Babu Owino during a stop-over rally on Sunday, July 26.
The Linda Mwananchi convoy, which was travelling to Bungoma for a mega rally later in the day, made a brief stop in Kamukuywa, where leaders addressed hundreds of residents who had turned out to welcome them.
As Sifuna introduced the leaders accompanying him, the crowd began chanting Babu Owino’s name after noticing the outspoken MP was missing from the convoy.

The chants briefly interrupted Sifuna’s speech, prompting him to explain that Babu was not travelling with the convoy but had already proceeded to Bungoma town to prepare for the main rally.
His explanation reassured the crowd, allowing the leaders to continue with their address before resuming their journey to the final destination.
Babu has emerged as one of the prominent Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders who have broken ranks with the party to oppose President William Ruto’s administration.
He is also among the founding members of the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Despite his active role in the movement, the Embakasi East MP recently disclosed plans to launch a new political party, saying he intends to lead it while allocating other senior leadership positions to representatives from different regions of the country.
