The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast rainfall in 16 counties over the course of the week while warning that several parts of the country will continue experiencing cool and cloudy conditions.
In its weekly weather outlook issued on Monday, July 13, the department said showers are expected in parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Nakuru, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Vihiga, Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties.
According to the forecast, residents in the affected areas should prepare for intermittent rainfall during the week, even as most other regions of the country are expected to remain largely dry.

The Met Department also projected cool and cloudy conditions in parts of Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka-Nithi counties.
Despite the expected rainfall in some regions, KMD noted that dry weather will dominate across much of the country throughout the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the department said daytime temperatures are likely to exceed 30°C in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, West Pokot and Turkana counties.
On the other hand, colder nights are expected in the central highlands and parts of the Rift Valley, with minimum average temperatures dropping below 10°C.
The counties expected to experience the chilly night-time conditions include Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Kajiado, Kiambu and Taita Taveta.
The Kenya Meteorological Department advised Kenyans to keep track of daily weather updates and take the necessary precautions, particularly in areas expected to receive rainfall or experience significantly low temperatures.
