The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cautioned drivers ahead of the reopening of schools.
The authority has outlined measures to ensure the safe transport of children in anticipation of increased traffic when school resumes.
In a notice on Friday, April 24, 2026, NTSA warned drivers to ensure that no child or body parts are protruding outside moving vehicles.
Drivers transporting learners have therefore been instructed to ensure that all passengers are properly seated before a journey begins.
NTSA also directed that all passengers must fasten seatbelts before vehicles start moving.

NTSA warns drivers ahead of school reopening
“When transporting school children, ensure all passengers are seated and have fastened their seatbelts before starting the journey. Furthermore, ensure that no child or body parts are protruding outside the vehicle,” the statement read.
“Drivers and vehicle owners have a responsibility to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and have valid licences as schools prepare to reopen,” NTSA added.
Furthermore, vehicle owners are required to ensure regular servicing and maintenance of their vehicles.
The authority emphasised that key parts such as brakes, tyres, lights and side mirrors must be fully functional at all times.
According to the authority, vehicles must have valid inspection certificates, Road Service Licences (RSL) and insurance coverage.
