Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata avoided any reference to the ‘Tutam’ slogan as he joined President William Ruto during a development tour in Murang’a County.
Speaking to residents in Kiharu on Friday, April 24, Kang’ata steered clear of 2027 campaign politics and instead focused on promoting his administration’s development agenda in the county.
Rather than engaging in politically charged chants, he introduced alternative slogans tied to his flagship programmes, drawing responses from the crowd.

He also underscored that his presence at the event was guided by respect for the Head of State and the Office of the President.
The county boss also skipped several stops during President Ruto’s development tour alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, citing a leg injury as the reason for his limited participation.
He explained that his absence was not driven by disregard for the leadership, but rather a medical condition affecting his mobility, while emphasizing respect for the offices of the President and Deputy President.
Kang’ata further highlighted the importance of cooperation between the county and national government, particularly in advancing industrialisation projects.
He pointed to plans for an industrial park in Murang’a aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people, noting that its success would depend on support from the national government.
Kang’ata said choosing political sides could risk isolating Murang’a from national development opportunities.
Meanwhile, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro missed the tour, with reports indicating he may have been attending a programme at Harvard Kennedy School in the United States.
