A suspected drug trafficker has been apprehended in Butere Sub-County after police officers raided his home.

During ethe operations, the police recovered a massive amount of cannabis sativa weighing 155 kilogrammes.

Acting on a tip-off, a security team went to the home of Dennis Obera in Ebushitinji village, Lunza Division, where they thoroughly searched the property and found five sizable bags of the prohibited material.

“Acting on a tip-off, the security team swooped down on the homestead of one Dennis Obera, in Ebushitinji village, within Lunza division”, part of the statement read.

This was after the suspect believed that his remote location would shield him from the long arm of the law, only to run out of luck when officers came knocking.

He was nabbed on the spot and escorted to Butere Police Station, where he is currently being processed and waiting arraignment in court.

The recovered items have been secured as evidence as investigations into the matter continue.

“Obera was promptly escorted to Butere Police Station, where he is undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered narcotics are being detained as exhibits”, the statement added.
