DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns over a security incident at Wairima ACK Church in Othaya, Nyeri County, claiming that his life and that of other worshippers were at risk.
Gachagua alleged that during a Sunday service on January 25, security personnel deployed tear gas and live ammunition, causing panic and endangering congregants.
The former DP said the incident created a tense atmosphere, prompting fears for the safety of those present at the church.

Gachagua went on to make an appeal to Kenyans, requesting prayers for his safety and that of other church attendees.
Images from the scene show thick clouds of what appears to be tear gas filling the church compound, with congregants running for cover amid the smoke.
The details behind the Sunday incident, including why security personnel were deployed and what triggered the confrontation, remain unclear.
At the time of reporting, the National Police Service had not responded to the former deputy president’s allegations.
