The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that several other passengers were injured in the collision and were attended to by emergency responders.

The injured passengers were rushed to Naivasha District Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The tragedy comes only days after another fatal accident along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway that claimed six lives.

That crash occurred at the Kikopey area in Gilgil, where a matatu collided head-on with a trailer.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was caused by brake failure on the truck. Images from the scene showed the trailer’s front section badly mangled, while the matatu was severely damaged.

Emergency response teams were swiftly deployed and carried out rescue operations to evacuate victims from the wreckage.
