Police in Marsabit have arrested a young woman and an unlicensed medical practitioner following the discovery of a six-month-old foetus in the Drib-Gombo area.
In a statement issued on Sunday, January 4, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the arrests were made after members of the public raised an alarm over the disturbing discovery in Malkalakore village.
According to the DCI, residents found a lifeless male foetus, estimated to be six months old, wrapped in clothing.

Police officers responded promptly, recovered the body, and transferred it to Marsabit Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
Investigators subsequently turned their attention to a 23-year-old woman who had recently been visibly pregnant but was suddenly no longer expecting, leading to her arrest as inquiries into the incident intensified.
Following her confession, detectives proceeded to the clinic where the procedure was allegedly carried out and established that it was operating illegally, with indications of recent medical activity.
At the premises, officers found the suspect, identified as Muthuri, running the facility without the required registration.
A search of the clinic uncovered assorted drugs and surgical instruments, some of which were stained with fresh blood.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the young woman required urgent medical attention after the procedure and was rushed to Marsabit Referral Hospital before being discharged and placed in police custody.
Both the woman and the unlicensed practitioner were later escorted to Marsabit Police Station, where they are being held as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment in court.
