Several Killed in a Road Accident Along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

An unknown number of people have died following a head-on collision between a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and a trailer along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

The accident occurred on Sunday morning, December 7, in the Masenyi area near Voi. The PSV was travelling to Mombasa, while the trailer was headed in the opposite direction.

Although some reports suggest that about seven people may have died, no official figures have been confirmed.

Photos shared show the PSV’s front completely destroyed, while the trailer sustained minor damage.

Both vehicles were left off the road following the crash.

Following the crash, other motorists, police, and emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist and rescue survivors.

The accident came a few days after another tragedy, in which four people died when a PSV overturned on Friday, December 5, in the Wakhungu area of Bumala, Busia County, as they were travelling from Bumala town to Port Victoria.

Photos shared online showed the vehicle mangled as residents and local authorities carried out rescue efforts.

Among the deceased were the driver, a woman, and two men, while the injured were taken to Nangina Mission Hospital.

Preliminary reports indicate a burst front tyre caused the driver to lose control. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
