Veteran KBC Journalist Festus Amimo Passes On

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist Festus Amimo has died.

Amimo, who headed KBC’s Dholuo radio station, Mayienga FM, passed away on Sunday, December 7.

Mayienga FM confirmed his death in a statement, describing the news as a shock to the station and the wider media fraternity.

He also served as the Chairperson of the Luo Journalists Association until his death.

Many leaders have paid tribute to the late Festus Amimo, including Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who described him as a warm and humble soul and a respected colleague whose kindness touched many.

He said Amimo served with dedication as Head of KBC Dholuo’s Mayienga Radio and as Chair of the Luo Journalists Association, noting that his leadership and passion for storytelling helped shape many journalists and strengthened the profession.

Omollo also conveyed his condolences to Amimo’s family, friends, and the wider media fraternity.

Energy cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi also remembered the late Amimo as a consummate and charismatic media personality.

CS Wandayi extended his condolences to Amimo’s family, friends, and professional colleagues.

Moreover, Siaya Governor James Orengo mourned Festus Amimo as a calm, collected and gifted journalist, describing his death as a major loss to the media fraternity and crediting him for his professionalism and respectful on-air presence.
