Babu Owino Alleges Snub at Beryl Odinga Funeral in Bondo

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has claimed that organisers of Beryl Odinga’s funeral in Bondo, Siaya County, did not allow him to address mourners during the ceremony.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, December 6, Babu said the crowd expressed support for him after his name was mentioned, despite him not being given an opportunity to speak.

“They never wanted me to speak today at the burial, but the people spoke for me,” the ODM legislator stated.

Although he did not address the gathering, Babu was acknowledged by Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, who read out the names of leaders present.

He was also recognised by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Ruth Odinga during the service.

Beryl Achieng Odinga, elder sister of late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, as confirmed by her sister Ruth.

Beryl, daughter of the late Hon. Jaramogi Odinga and Mary Ajuma Oginga, was mother to Ami Auma, Chizi, and Taurai, and sister to Senator Oburu Oginga, Raila Odinga, and Akinyi Wenwa.

She was also sister-in-law to Dr. Anne Oburu, Dr. Canon Ida Odinga, Hon. Tabu Osewe, and Judy Oburu.
