The former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss has declined nomination by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata to serve as the chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board.
In a letter dated June 25, 2025, Dr. Macharia cited receiving another offer from an international organisation as the primary reason for her decision.
“I hereby thank you for nominating me as the chair of the Murang’a County Public Service Board. However, I decline the post as I have received another offer from an international body, which, in my opinion, could affect my performance in the said role”, the letter read.

She also stated that he had realized the position would require a full-time commitment, whereas she had hoped for a part-time engagement.
The former TSC boss had been nominated by Governor Kanga’ata.
Her appointment came shortly after her tenure at TC was set to conclude on June 30, 2025.
