Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a directive to police officers, instructing them to shoot individuals who pose a direct threat to officers or attack police stations.
The CS was speaking after assessing the damage at the Dagoretti Police Post following the June 25 protests.
However, CS Murkomen’s directive did not sit well with the locals, who heckled him and told him off.

Moreover, some of the locals could be heard chanting the ‘wantam’ phrase, which opposition leaders use in campaigning against the re-election of President William Ruto.
But despite the heckling, Murkomen went on to defend his order, noting that people trying to steal guns from police stations should not be treated lightly.
According to the CS, 5 guns were stolen in Dagoretti during the Wednesday protests.
During the June 25 commemorative protests on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry revealed that 300 police officers were attacked and injured.
Police stations were also looted and burned during the protests.
Notably, the CS had described the June 25 protests as an attempted coup, asserting that some politicians were behind the plans to hire goons for the demonstrations.
