DIG Eliud Lagat Summoned by IPOA

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has finally summoned Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of Albert Ojwang. 

In a statement dated June 18, the oversight body confirmed that the senior officer is required to record his statement over the matter.

“Having found basis, IPOA has issued summons to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat, to appear before the Authority’s investigations team to record a statement,” the authority noted.

Moreover, IPOA revealed that progress in the investigation has seen several police officers recording statements with the authority. 

The authority went on to state that it has also taken action against civilians connected to the case. 

IPOA furthermore affirmed that it is working closely with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution to ensure thorough and timely investigations.

The late influencer Albert Ojwang died under controversial circumstances at the Nairobi Central Police Station.
