Burat Ward MCA Nicholas Lorot is fighting for his life after being accosted and shot by an armed assailant near Trojan Petrol Station in Isiolo Town on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the MCA had just left a restaurant after a meeting with a senior leader from the Isiolo County Assembly when an armed assailant approached his vehicle and opened fire on him.
During the incident, the MCA lost his thumb while attempting to deflect the gunshot with his right hand and sustained two additional gunshot wounds in the same arm.

He was, however, rescued and taken to a hospital in Meru, where he is currently admitted in stable condition.
Isiolo County Assembly confirmed the incident and condemned those behind the attack.
He has moreover revealed that they were working closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The County Assembly of Isiolo vehemently condemns the brazen shooting of Hon. Nicholas Lorot, Member of the County Assembly for Burat Ward. The incident occurred near the Northern Galaxy Hotel in Isiolo Town. He was rushed to a medical facility following the attack,” a statement from the County Assembly confirmed.
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and Senator Adan Fatuma Dullo have also condemned the incident, asserting that the security of leaders was not guaranteed.
