Kenya Police Officer in Haiti Announced as Missing Amid Viral Gang Video

The National Police Service (NPS) has issued an official statement on the latest suspected gang in Haiti.

In a statement released on March 26, 2025, NPS announced that a police officer went missing following a gang ambush.

“The officer was reported missing while on duty on March 25, 2025, following an ambush incident along the Carrefour Paye-Savien main supply route in the Pont-Sonde, Artibonite Department”, NPS stated.

The NPS, therefore, assured that the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) and Haitan National Police (HNP) are actively conducting a search and rescue operation to locate the officer’s whereabouts.

However, there is a viral video circulating on social media alleging that the officer might be dead.

In the controversial video, an officer is seen lying on the ground while Haitians are hitting him to confirm whether he is dead or alive.

The MSS mission is an international police military force approved by the United Nations on October 2023 to assist the government of Haiti in restoring law and order amid gang violence, which has been there since 2018.

Kenyan officers are among the forces deployed in Haiti as the latest troop with over 200 police officers arrived on January 18 2025.
