Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto was among the leaders who mourned the children, saying the incident had deeply saddened the community.
He noted that the deaths of the three siblings had left residents in shock and called on the family to remain strong during the difficult period of mourning.
Ruto also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and the people of Kimatisio, saying the tragedy had touched many beyond the immediate family due to the young age of the victims and the devastating circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei also expressed his condolences, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the dangers posed by accidental fires, particularly in homes where children are left vulnerable.
The senator noted that the deaths of the siblings had left an emotional scar on the Kimatisio community and expressed solidarity with the family as they struggled to come to terms with the unimaginable loss.
Sigei further assured the family of support during the mourning period, saying the county leadership and the local community would stand with them as they navigate the difficult days ahead.
The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety in residential homes, especially in rural areas where kitchens and separate sleeping structures are common.
While the cause of the blaze had not been officially established by Thursday, authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal fire.
Residents of Kimatisio Village have since joined the bereaved family in mourning the three children, with many describing the incident as one of the most devastating tragedies to hit the area in recent years.
As investigations continue, leaders have called on members of the public to observe fire safety measures in their homes to help prevent similar incidents, while offering prayers and support to the grieving family during this difficult time.
