3 Arrested After Shoe Thrown at President Ruto in Migori

Police have arrested three suspects following an incident where a shoe was hurled at President Ruto while addressing the public in Kehancha, Migori County. 

According to Preliminary investigations, the attack on the President may have been politically motivated and possibly premeditated ahead of his visit to the county. 

The police are moreover pursuing more suspects who played a role in the attack on the President.

In a short clip that went viral on social media, President Ruto was mid-speech when the shoe was thrown at him and nearly hit him on the face. 

The president, however, blocked the shoe with his hand as it landed on him.

The Head of State paused for a while before he continued addressing the locals on matters concerning reducing the cost of farming.

During the incident, security officers tasked with protecting the president quickly rushed to the stage and pushed the crowd away from the dais, but Ruto asked them to stop.

Meanwhile, the incident sparked a debate online with a section of netizens condemning it as a disrespect to the presidency.
