Two women have been arrested over an alleged KSh530,000 fraud involving the supply of 7,500 chicks that were never delivered to a buyer.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the suspects, Marysella Naswa Kanda and Angela Kendi, were arraigned before the Ngong Chief Magistrate’s Court and charged with conspiracy to defraud.
According to investigators, the complainant ordered 7,500 chicks valued at KSh1,387,500 but received none despite making payments totalling KSh530,000.

The complainant reportedly deposited KSh350,000 into a Cooperative Bank account operated under Japlead Global Feed on September 13, 2026.
A further KSh180,000 was sent to the same account on September 16 after the buyer received assurances of an early delivery.
However, the chicks were never supplied, prompting the complainant to report the matter at Kiserian Police Station.
Detectives launched investigations and conducted an undercover operation in which officers posed as prospective customers seeking to purchase chicks.
The operation led to Kanda’s arrest in Kitengela with the assistance of local police officers. Kendi was also arrested in connection with the alleged fraud.
The court granted each suspect cash bail of KSh250,000 or an alternative bond of KSh300,000. The case is scheduled for mention on November 9, 2026.
