2 Iranians Arrested in Thika for Using Stupefying Methods on Targets

Two Iranian nationals are in police custody as detectives investigate their alleged criminal activities following their arrest in Thika.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects, 56-year-old Heidari Mansoior Eslam and his 40-year-old accomplice, Babaei Ahmad Mirzaaga, are believed to have been using stupefying methods to target their victims.

According to the DCI, the pair were apprehended after stopping at a mobile phone shop, where the owner became suspicious and uncovered their intentions.

The shopkeeper reportedly linked them to a previous incident in which another trader was robbed of KSh 15,000.

The mobile phone shop owner immediately alerted the trader who had previously been defrauded by the suspects. The victim arrived at the scene and positively identified the two Iranians.

According to the DCI, the trader confirmed that he had fallen victim to their stupefying tactics a month earlier, an ordeal that left him KSh 15,000 poorer.

The two shopkeepers raised an alarm, drawing a crowd that appeared intent on meting out mob justice to the suspects.

Police officers arrived at the scene in time and rescued the foreigners from the agitated members of the public.

The suspects were escorted to Thika Police Station, where they were booked as the two shopkeepers recorded their statements.

The pair are now in custody undergoing the necessary processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
