Wolves Shock Manchester United with a 1-0 Victory

Manchester United’s 0-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday marked a significant disappointment following the excitement of Thursday’s dramatic Europa League victory over Lyon.

Manager Ruben Amorim made several changes to his lineup, but the team’s poor performance underscored ongoing issues throughout the season and revealed alarming statistics. This defeat against Wolves was United’s 15th loss in the Premier League this season.

With this loss, United has now suffered eight defeats at home in the league, the highest number of losses at Old Trafford in a single campaign.

After the match, Amorim stated, “If you don’t score goals, you don’t win games.”

Under his management, United has failed to score in nine of his 22 Premier League games. Only relegated Leicester City has had more goalless matches in that timeframe.

Wolves capitalized on a crucial opportunity when Sarabia stepped up to take a free-kick after Eriksen fouled near the United box. Although goalkeeper Andre Onana believed his wall was set correctly, Sarabia exploited a gap, scoring just three minutes after coming onto the field and securing Wolves’ Premier League safety.

Since Amorim’s arrival in November, his team has now lost to Wolves, along with Crystal Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest—all of whom have left Old Trafford with maximum points.

In the last ten Premier League matches, United has garnered only nine points, with their only victories coming against Leicester and Ipswich, both currently in the bottom three of the league.
