Willis Raburu Signs Up with Linda Mwananchi Movement

Media personality Willis Raburu has officially joined the Linda Mwananchi Movement.

In a statement issued on April 23, Governor James Orengo welcomed Raburu to the faction, noting that his entry brings youthful energy and a strong media background to the movement.

Orengo added that Raburu is expected to contest for the Kisumu County senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election, positioning him as a new entrant in the region’s political landscape.

“Today, I had an engaging tete-a-tete with Willi Raburu. He is officially bringing his signature youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and creative media edge to the Linda Mwananchi Movement. Willis is running for the Kisumu Senatorial seat, and we are thrilled he has chosen to board our bus, a movement fueled by the aspirations of the youth and a drive for a better Kenya,” Orengo noted.

Raburu’s transition into politics comes nearly two years after his departure from Cape Media’s TV47.

Raburu joined the station in August 2023 and exited in April 2024, during which he hosted Wabebe Experience, a weekly Friday night show that spotlighted artists such as singers, spoken word performers, and dancers.

He previously hosted the popular 10 over 10 show on Citizen TV.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement is a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) composed largely of youthful politicians opposed to the leadership of Oburu Oginga.

Its members include Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Richard Onyonka, Godfrey Osotsi, Anthony Kibagendi, Caleb Amisi, Clive Gisairo, Obadiah Barongo, and Caroli Omondi.

The group has also expressed opposition to the possibility of ODM backing William Ruto for re-election in 2027.
