National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Wednesday, August 26, attended the General Audience at the Vatican, where he joined thousands of faithful for an encounter presided over by Pope Leo XIV.
The gathering brought together faithful from different parts of the world for a session focused on peace, hope, compassion and service to humanity.
According to Wetang’ula, the occasion offered an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on values that continue to unite people and nations, including human dignity, compassion and the pursuit of peace.

He noted that the gathering also highlighted the importance of solidarity and stronger bonds among communities and nations, while emphasising the shared responsibility to work towards a better world.
“Attended the Papal Audience at the Vatican, led by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This was a moment of reflection, fellowship and goodwill as we joined faithful from across the world to receive the Holy Father’s message of peace, hope and service to humanity. I was accompanied by Members of Parliament Hon. Peter Kaluma, Hon. John Bwire, Hon. Lydia Haika, Hon. Katana Kahindi Hon. Paul Abuor and Amb. Rose Sumbeiywo, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Kenya to the Holy See in Rome, Italy,” Speaker Watang’ula noted.
The Speaker’s attendance comes as part of his engagements at the Vatican, bringing together religious, diplomatic and international perspectives on issues affecting humanity and global communities.
