National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Tuesday, March 31, dismissed an attempt by Azimio Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to remove Junet Mohamed as the Leader of the Minority.
Speaking on the floor of the House, Wetangula questioned the authenticity of a letter allegedly from Azimio that proposed Suba South MP Caroli Omondi replace Junet.
He noted that the letter contained numerous typographical and grammatical errors and lacked the original signature of Kalonzo, raising doubts about its legitimacy.

As a result, the bid to oust Junet was officially rejected, allowing him to remain in his position as Minority Leader.
The Speaker noted that the letter had appointed Omondi as the Leader of the Coalition Party Parliamentary Group, a position that is not recognized under the Constitution, State law, or Parliamentary Standing Orders.
He further highlighted that the document lacked a correspondence address, making it impossible for Parliament to seek clarification or respond.
As a result, Wetangula ruled the letter inadmissible in Parliament, stating that he could not implement any of the proposed changes.
The Speaker received the letter on March 9, 2026, the same day Azimio announced Junet’s removal from its Coalition Council.
