Kenyan comedian Henry Desagu has been battling depression and alcoholism for a while now.
According to the family, his condition has deteriorated to the point of requiring admission at Mathari Mental Hospital.
The situation has forced leaders and well-wishers to come together to support his treatment and rehabilitation.

Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia is among those who have spearheaded a fundraiser aimed at securing funds for Desagu’s medical care and rehabilitation.
In a statement, Kururia emphasised the importance of standing by Desagu during this difficult time.
“We will not watch as this great boychild, Henry Desagu, whose comedy brings laughter to all of us, is brought down by depression and alcoholism. We will pray for his recovery, have him get quality medical attention, and get our lively Desagu back.”
The MP moreover acknowledged the efforts of businessman Elijah Njoroge, who had been assisting Desagu and informed him of the severity of the situation.
“Thanks my namesake Elijah Njoroge (Mofarm JM) for standing with him so far and for explaining to me how seriously his situation is getting worse, to the extent of getting hospitalised at Mathari Hospital.”
The fundraiser has so far attracted contributions from various public figures and businesspeople.
Among the leaders who have contributed towards the comedian’s treatment and rehabilitation include Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia and businessman Elijah Njoroge.
Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi has also contributed and former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.
Other well-wishers include Dr Murimi, Maina Kamiru, DAMA Spares, Jose Empire and John Wa Phone Place.
Mugithi singer Samidoh has also contributed, Enock Moriasi, Maurine Kabu and not forgetting Edu Wa Motorhub.
So far, the fundraiser has raised Sh840,000, with a remaining balance of Sh160,000 needed to meet the target of Sh1 million.
