Wangamati Faces EACC Over Corruption-Related Probe

Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has honored a summon by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over corruption-related allegations.

The former county boss presented himself at the Commission’s headquarters in Nairobi on Monday for processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

According to a report by EACC, it had received consent from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to charge him alongside several associates and company directors linked to his case.

Wangamati is accused of embezzling public funds during his tenure in Bungoma County.

He will be charged together with more than ten individuals, including relatives and associates tied to various construction and supply firms, alleged to have benefited from the scheme.

The ODPP accuses Wangamati and his officials of embezzling over Ksh.70 million through tenders.
