DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa has invited Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale to join his party, arguing that the senator has been unfairly targeted within the ruling UDA party.
Speaking in Butula, Busia County, on December 6, during the installation ceremony of the Mareba clan king, Wamalwa said Khalwale was being punished for standing up for the dignity and interests of the Luhya community.
Wamalwa offered Khalwale a political home at DAP-K, saying the party was open to him and others facing unfair treatment.

He also criticised UDA’s decision to remove Khalwale as Senate Majority Whip, describing it as a politically motivated move.
Khalwale was removed as Senate Majority Whip on December 2 after UDA accused him of disloyalty and backing a rival candidate instead of the party’s choice.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi announced the decision, and Bungoma Senator Wakoli Wafula was named as his replacement.
Before his removal, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar challenged Khalwale to resign if he believed he enjoyed sufficient public support.
As Majority Whip, Khalwale played a key role in enforcing party discipline and coordinating the passage of legislation.
Even before Wamalwa’s invitation to join DAP-K, Khalwale had indicated plans to run for the Kakamega governorship in 2027 under a different political outfit.
It now remains to be seen whether he will accept the offer from DAP-K or pursue his own political path ahead of the next general election.
