Wafula Chebukati’s wife, Mary Wanyonyi, has lamented how Kenyans on social media have been unfair to her family.
This, she said during the burial service of her husband, former IEBC chairperson Wafula Cheukati.
The former IEBC chair died at 64 after being admitted at Nairobi Hospital while in critical condition.
Sources indicated that he had been battling cancer and was receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the time of his passing.

Wanyonyi cited that social media has bashed her family and ‘killed’ them so many times.
“The only positive thing social media has done to me is to give me a daughter. But all the other times, they have bashed us and attacked us. Ignore those people; they have killed Chebukati so many times,” she said.
She further emphasized that social media has killed her husband, remembering the fact that she used to receive phone calls to confirm if Chebukati was still alive.
“Now that he has rested, I hope they will give us some peace”, Wanyonyi added.
