The National Youth Service (NYS) has postponed its recruitment for volunteer servicemen and women, originally scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2026.
In a notice on Thursday, March 19, NYS Commandant General Evans Yaite explained that the postponement follows a gazette notice declaring Friday a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr.
The recruitment exercise has now been rescheduled to Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Prospective candidates are advised to take note of the change and report to their respective recruitment centers on the new date.
The nationwide National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment exercise began on Monday, March 16, across all sub-counties and is scheduled to conclude on March 21, 2026.
NYS invited young Kenyans to report to designated centers across the country to participate in the exercise.
The programme provides an opportunity for participants to serve the nation while acquiring skills that can help build sustainable careers after completing their service.
Eligible candidates must be Kenyan citizens, residents of the sub-county where they are applying, aged between 18 and 24 years, and have attained a minimum mean grade of D plain in KCSE.
Applicants must also possess a valid certificate of good conduct.
Participants are required to present their original national identity card and academic certificates at the recruitment centers, along with one set of photocopies.
