Victims of Nairobi Floods Ferried Home for Burial

Sonko’s Rescue Team has begun ferrying the bodies of victims killed during the recent floods.

Five bodies out of the twenty-seven victims of the Nairobi floods have been transported to West Pokot, Eldoret, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, and Mtito Andei by the Sonko Rescue Team.

This comes after the former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko pledged to clear pending morgue bills, provide coffins, and facilitate transport for all victims of the floods in Nairobi.

Sonko now says that the remaining 22 bodies will be transported once families finalise burial arrangements in their respective rural homes.

TSonko also urged leaders to set aside their political differences and avoid politicising the flood tragedy, instead calling for unity in addressing the flooding crisis and supporting affected families.

“When I was governor, we made it a habit to unclog drainage to ease flooding. Instead of leaders coming together to help, some are busy politicising the issue. That is wrong. Let us come together and do what is supposed to be done,” he said.
