The United States Embassy in Kenya has warned its citizens to exercise caution ahead of planned demonstrations in Nairobi.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, January 13, the embassy highlighted a protest reportedly being organized in response to recent U.S. military action in Venezuela, which has attracted international attention and criticism.
According to the advisory, the demonstration is expected to take place near the embassy in the Gigiri neighbourhood on Wednesday, January 14, prompting the mission to alert Americans living in or around the area.

Reports indicate that groups such as the Communist Party of Kenya and the Kenya Left Alliance had earlier called on youths to demonstrate in solidarity with Venezuela.
The protests follow the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after a U.S. military operation in early January, an incident that sparked demonstrations by Venezuelans abroad.
In response to the planned Nairobi protests, the U.S. Embassy advised its citizens to monitor local media for updates and avoid crowds.
The embassy also advised U.S. citizens to maintain a low profile, remain vigilant, and keep regular contact with friends and family for safety.
Meanwhile, Kenyan activists are reportedly coordinating with regional movements, including human rights groups focused on the militarisation of Uganda’s January 15 elections, describing the protests as part of a wider push for African and global sovereignty.
The U.S. mission has continued to issue regular security advisories, urging its citizens in Kenya to exercise caution whenever there is a risk of public unrest, in a bid to safeguard their safety.
