The future of Loramoru Primary School in Marigat, Baringo South Sub-County, is in doubt after its classrooms were brought down in an operation reportedly involving officers from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
The incident has interrupted learning in an area that had only recently begun to stabilise following years of insecurity.
Established about 40 years ago, the school had previously been shut down due to persistent banditry.

It was rebuilt in 2024 after a ceasefire agreement between the Pokot community and neighbouring groups, as part of wider efforts to restore normalcy and promote peace.
Classes had resumed as displaced families gradually returned, making the latest disruption a major setback to the community’s recovery efforts.
Residents insisted the school is properly registered, citing valid Ministry of Health and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) codes, and noted it was only reopened after peace talks restored calm in the area.
They claim officers believed to be from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) demolished the semi-permanent classrooms, alleging the structures were on gazetted forest land.
Tensions later rose when local leaders were blocked by police from accessing the site to rebuild.
Community members are now demanding an official explanation, warning that disrupting learning could threaten the fragile peace.
Baringo South MP also expressed concern, highlighting the school supports vulnerable children, including families recently resettled after years of displacement.
