Ulinzi Starlets delivered an impressive performance, defeating the visiting Bungoma Queens 5-0 in an FKF Women’s Premier League match held on Saturday morning at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Shery Andiba opened the scoring for Ulinzi Starlets in the 12th minute with an excellent header from a cross by Fasila Adhiambo. Just three minutes later, Bungoma Queens had a chance to respond, but their goalkeeper, Maureen Shimuli, made a remarkable save to keep her team in the game.
In the 23rd minute, Fasila Adhiambo turned scorer herself, tapping in a rebound after a shot by Lucy Nato. This goal would hold until the halftime break.
Seven minutes into the second half, Andiba was denied a chance for her second goal in a one-on-one situation. However, her teammate Diana Shakava quickly capitalized on the opportunity, scoring Ulinzi’s third goal.
Ulinzi Starlets continued to dominate at home, maintaining pressure with relentless attacks. In the 75th minute, Mercy Airo played a key role by setting up Joy Kinglady, who skillfully dribbled past the defenders to score another goal.
With less than ten minutes remaining, Shery Andiba secured her brace after being assisted once again by Mercy Airo, solidifying the team’s 5-0 victory.
In another match played on Saturday, Zetech Sparks triumphed with a 3-0 win over Mombasa Olympic at the Zetech University Mangu Campus grounds.
