Two University Students Found Dead at Juja Dam

Two university students have died after drowning at a popular ‘park and chill’ leisure spot in Juja Kiambu County.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the Titanic dam, Mugutha area, which is considered particularly dangerous because motorists often park on a slope overlooking the water.

Police reports indicated that the two victims, aged 21 and 22, had gone for a fun day when they decided to swim in the dam.

They were, unfortunately, unable to make it back to the shore.

Nearby witnesses reported that they heard distressing calls before the two disappeared beneath the water’s surface.

Their bodies were retrieved by Kiambu County divers and moved to the General Kago Funeral Home as investigations into the death continued.

This not being the first incident, the dam has raised concerns among many.

In January 2023, a man and a woman were reported dead after their car dived into the dam.

Empty alcohol bottles were seen scattered along the banks of the dam, suggesting that it’s a popular partying spot.

Residents suggested that the couple had been enjoying themselves near the dam when the tragedy occurred.
