Two suspects have been apprehended by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Isebania, Migori County.
According to the DCI, the operation, which was carried out in collaboration with K9 officers from Isebania Police Station, targeted Nyametaburo Location after investigators acted on credible intelligence pointing to suspected possession of illegal weapons within the area.
During the operation, the officers raided the residence of a 51-year-old suspect where they discovered a homemade firearm concealed under a sofa set inside the house.
Among other items seized included several items alleged to be linked to criminal activity, including a twisted metal rod, a blue balaclava mask, a dotted dera dress, a black marvin, and a black jacket.
” Acting on credible intelligence, officers raided the residence of a 51-year-old suspect, James Mukwabe Soko, at Makerero Village. A search of the premises led to the recovery of a homemade firearm concealed under a sofa set, alongside one round of ammunition wrapped in aluminium foil. Also recovered were a twisted metal rod, a blue balaclava mask, a dotted dera dress, a black Marvin, and a black jacket used to conceal the weapon”, part of the statement read.
After the arrest of the first suspect, he reportedly led the officers to another residence within Nyametaburo Location, where a suspected accomplice was subsequently arrested.
The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further interrogation and arraignment in court.
