Those injured were rushed to Samburu County Referral Hospital, where they are currently recuperating.

Talking to the press after the incident, a victim disclosed that the assailants began shooting at the bus from a distance, forcing the driver to stop.

They then entered the bus and started threatening passengers.

“They let the first bus pass before attacking us. We have been threatened for the longest time. I recorded the clips using my phone,” claimed a victim.

Confirming the incident, local leaders from Samburu accused the government of failing to curb the rising insecurity in the region.

“It seems the government is unable to end insecurity in this region because for the whole year, people have been killed along this road as if there is no government. Anything that happens, no government intervention, and we have gone to all security offices, even in the Interior Ministry,” Samburu North MP Elly Letipila said.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 6 pm.
