Two Arrested in Nairobi as Police Recover Five Suspected Stolen Phones

Two suspected phone snatchers believed to be part of an organised motorcycle-riding criminal syndicate have been arrested in Kasarani, Nairobi County.

In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the service said that officers from Kasarani Police Station and Githurai 44 Police Post conducted the operation following intelligence reports and information received from members of the public.

According to the NPS, the suspects were intercepted in the Kamiti Road and Naivas areas within Kasarani Sub-County before officers carried out a search that led to the recovery of five assorted mobile phones believed to have been stolen.

“Police officers from Kasarani Police Station and Githurai 44 Police Post today, 22 July 2026, arrested two suspected phone snatchers. They are believed to be part of an organised syndicate operating on motorcycles within Nairobi,” the statement read.

The two suspects have since been placed in police custody and will remain there pending their arraignment in court.

The recovered mobile phones have been secured as exhibits to support investigations and prosecution.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the National Police Service urged Kenyans to continue working closely with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
