Tusker FC Climbs Top of the FKF Premier League Table

Tusker FC secured a victory against Nairobi City Stars in a rain-soaked Machakos Stadium, allowing them to rise to the top of the FKF Premier League standings.

After Kenya Police FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ulinzi Stars on Friday and Gor Mahia managed a 1-1 draw with Sofapaka on Saturday, Tusker knew that a win would propel them to the top. They delivered by defeating City Stars.

Conversely, City Stars entered the match desperate for points, as they remained at the bottom of the table and faced a strong risk of relegation. A win was essential to alleviate their worries.

The match took a turn early for City Stars in the 5th minute when their former left-back, Dennis Wanjala, noticed goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe off his line and audaciously scored with a long-range shot.

In the 23rd minute, Lawrence Luvanda almost doubled the lead, but his powerful shot just missed the target. Deogratious Ojok wasted another opportunity in the 32nd minute, and Luvanda squandered another chance just before halftime.

Nine minutes into the second half, City Stars were reduced to ten men when defender Wycliffe Omondi received two quick yellow cards and was sent off.

City Stars had a rare opportunity in the 73rd minute, but Dennis Oalo’s shot was blocked by the Tusker defenders. Tusker managed to hold on to their lead and secured the three points.

With this victory, Tusker FC now leads the table with 51 points, followed closely by Kenya Police FC with 49 points. Gor Mahia, who has a game in hand, sits third with 47 points.
