Meta has restored Tanzanian’s activist Maria Sarungi’s accounts following intense pressure from the public.
The accounts were restored Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The activist’s account was restricted on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after she mobilized Tanzanians for December 9 protests over the disputed October 29 elections that left hundreds dead.
Meta had initially defended the move claiming that the restrictions was legal request from Tanzania Communications Authority.
Sarungi is now appealing to the public to mount pressure on Meta for the restoration of Kimambi and Sativa’s accounts were also restricted.
